Paradigm of Triumph: A Loan Officer's Own Success Story

If there has been a living proof of an aged old cliché that anyone can surpass poverty, Mr. Agustin Lacson, an Area Manager of Taytay Sa Kauswagan Incorporated would have been a good exemplar.

At an early age Sir Gus as what her colleagues and friends fondly call him, had undergone various means to survive from life's demands. Hailed from a modest family he and his siblings did their part in helping their parents. Yet despite their impoverish situation he was clever enough to earn himself a college degree majoring in Customs Administration.

"I worked as a part time jeepney dispatcher in a terminal and janitor in Iloilo International Airport for me to save enough allowance in school," recalled Sir Gus. The hardships of studying and working at the same time did not back him down. "Our situation was an inspiration for me to finish college at all costs," he added.

Early in 1988 after finishing college, he joined TSKI and was assigned as loan clerk officer. Though five years thereafter he resigned from his position and tried his luck on other opportunities. A few years after, he knew his heart calls for the company as he re-applied in TSKI.

With his unfading diligence and loyalty for TSKI, his efforts were awarded. In 2000, he was promoted as branch manager in Roxas City Branch, Capiz.

Sure to his watchful eye and guidance to his subordinates, the branch gained momentum in terms of admirable service and within a short time it expanded its business in other provinces outside Panay Island.

According to former staffs under his leadership, Sir Gus became their role model and his principles had long been valued that they also used it in their own lives. Most of the pioneering staff in Roxas City Branch under his supervision was then promoted as well to managerial positions and at the present at par of his own position.

Sir Gus was then promoted from branch manager then area manager, and before 2010 ended he currently holds the regional manager's position and is assigned in Mindanao Regional Area; which covers the whole Mindanao branches, Southern Leyte, Bohol and Siquijor.

"Back then it was a difficult task to implement a new methodology for microfinance to the people. I had to guarantee them that it will work, nevertheless it succeeded," Sir Gus said during the interview.

"TSKI had given me a lot of opportunities that boosted my personality and honed my skills. Having spent most of my career in TSKI, I am looking forward to see clients who will succeed," he said.

Aside from Area 2 or Capiz Branch, Sir Gus had been assigned to various TSKI Area offices namely Area 3 (Iloilo Branch), Area 6 (Leyte), and Area 7 (Samar).

"I attribute my present position to what had I have to undergo to get me here and as well as for hard work. I give acknowledgement as well to my colleagues and friends for their assistance, and most especially to TSKI for providing me sufficient opportunities to excel," Sir Gus capped the interview.
