TSKI in the Midst of Calamity
TSKI was hit by the flash flood last June 21, 2008 at the height of typhoon Frank. The branches in Quartero, Capiz, Kalibo and Ibajay in Aklan were the most affected branches. Their office equipments, facilities and documents were run-down by the water. The staff in Quartero Branch, as of yesterday - June 25, were still clearing/cleaning the office from flood debris.
On the other hand, most of TSKI's staff were flood victims too. The houses of our Executive Director, Deputy Executive Director, Finance and Accounting Division Director and most of the staff residing in Iloilo City, Pavia, Cabatuan, Sta. Barbara and Janiuay were hit by flash flood. Their houses, if not knee-deep filled by water, were totally submerged. Worst, the mud and debris carried by the water had sip-in to their houses.
One of the Program Assistant of K-Bank-Jaro Branch, Marianne Sillo, and her husband were carried by the flash flood for almost an hour. Luckily, the couple were able to hold-on to some floating wood debris and safely got away from their ordeal. The 2 younger sisters of Angelie Castracion, bookeeper assigned in Calapan, Mindoro were found dead after the flood subsided in Bgry. Guadalupe, Janiuay, Iloilo. Four of the relatives of our legal assistant in Antique were missing until this writing.
Most of TSKI clients in Iloilo City and Province, Antique, Capiz, Aklan, Samar, Leyte, Cebu, Romblon, Mindoro and Marinduque were devastated by the typhoon. Their means of livelihood were affected and their daily chores were abrupted. Most of the areas in Iloilo City has problem with drinking water. Still, there is no electricity in most of the municipalities in the provinces of Iloilo, Antique, Capiz and Aklan.
TSKI, after a day of the typhoon, extended relief operations and assistance to its affected staff and clients alike. Food, water and medicines were distributed to them. Also, TSKI offers its affected employees a calamity loan/assistance to ease up their financial burden.
